Yzaguirre Nails Down Second Pitcher of the Week Award
After helping Florida SouthWestern to three Top 10 wins last week, sophomore righthander Zoe Yzaguirre has been named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- After helping Florida SouthWestern to three Top 10 wins last week, sophomore righthander Zoe Yzaguirre has been named the FCSAA Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season.
Yzaguirre was 2-0 with a save in three appearances last week, posting a 0.54 ERA while striking out nine and walking just one. Tuesday she went the distance for the Bucs in the circle in a 5-2 win over #9 Indian River, allowing just five hits and one earned run against the Pioneers. Saturday she pitched in both ends of a big doubleheader against #6 Santa Fe, coming in for two perfect innings of relief in a 5-3 game one victory to earn a save before throwing four, one hit innings in game two to earn the win in a 2-1 FSW victory to complete the sweep.
On the year Yzaguirre is 11-2 with an FCSAA best 0.93 ERA, allowing just 39 hits in 75 2/3 innings pitched while striking out 87 opposing hitters.
Yzaguirre and the Bucs are back in action on Tuesday when they host Hillsborough in a 2 PM doubleheader at Buccaneers Park in Fort Myers.
