FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers kicked 2026 off with a bang Saturday afternoon at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers, shooting a blazing 60% from the field as they breezed past the visiting St. Petersburg Titans 84-60 to remain unbeaten at 3-0 in Citrus Conference play.
The Bucs came out ready to go, playing their first game in 17 days, getting a three on their first possession from Rannon Suttle and a layup from the freshman moments later to stake them out to an early 7-2 lead. Chelsea Bishop found a cutting Destinie Gordon to put the Bucs up 12-8 midway through the first and after one FSW was in control, leading 22-14.
A steal and score from Bishop early in the second pushed the FSW lead to double digits and a jumper from Damia Worthy put the Bucs up a dozen, 36-24 with 4:02 to go in the half. St. Pete outscored the Bucs by three in the final four minutes of the period, but FSW still went to the break with a cushion, leading the Titans 40-31.
The Titans came out hot in the third and quickly trimmed the Bucs lead to just four at 46-42 but a three from Arielle Marc and an offensive board and put back from Bishop quickly gave FSW some breathing room once again at 58-45. Another Marc triple followed by a dish from her to Delfina Cergneux for two gave FSW a 10-0 run to close the period and put them up 63-45 at the end of three.
The Bucs continued to gash the Titans defense in the fourth, bumping their lead to over 20 on a finish inside from Amelia Williams before closing out St. Pete 84-60 at the final horn.
The Bucs shot a blazing 60% from the field as a team in the win and dominated on the inside, outscoring St. Pete 48-22 in the paint. Five players scored in double figures for FSW, led by Bishop who went for 16 on 7 of 8 shooting while Marc, Gordon, and Worthy each put up 13.
FSW remains on top of the Citrus Conference standings with a 3-0 mark in league action while bumping their overall record to 10-5 on the year. St. Pete drops their sixth straight, falling to 4-12 overall and 1-3 in Citrus Conference play.
The Bucs will be back in action on Saturday, January 10th when they host Hillsborough in a conference doubleheader beginning at 2 PM.
