Bio

Freshman (2023-24): Soumahoro played in 22 games for the Bucs as a freshman last season, averaging 4.1 points per game while shooting 53% from the field and 55% from the three point line. He put up a career high 21 points on 8 of 11 shooting in an early December win over Elgin.  Late in the season he stepped up big for the Bucs, scoring 19 points in a win over Polk State and backing that up with 8 points in a career high 37 minutes in a win over St. Petersburg before seeing his season come to an end with a foot injury. 

High School: Soumahoro joined the Bucs from Berkmar High School in Georgia where he averaged 17 points per game as a senior while shooting 47% from the field. 

Personal: Born May 13, 2004, he is the son of Mariame and Gaussou Soumahoro.

Bucs Season Comes To An End In FCSAA Quarters

For 30 minutes, it looked like the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were going to push past their FCSAA Tournament curse, but a five minute stretch without a field goal did them in in a 74-63 loss to the Gulf Coast State Commodores in the tournament quarterfinals Thursday night in Niceville to bring their 2024-2025 season to an end at 18-11.

Bucs Clip Century Mark In Fifth Straight Win

Overtime Drought Does In Bucs at Polk

The Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers led nearly the entire 40 minutes of regulation Saturday afternoon in their Citrus Conference matchup with the Polk State Eagles, but a late comeback by Polk forced overtime and FSW failed to record a field goal in the extra period, falling to Polk for the first time in program history 80-73 to drop to 13-9 on the year.

Bucs Come Up Just Short in Shootout Loss to Eagles

The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers battled hard in their second game in less than 24 hours Saturday afternoon in the Florida Juco Shootout in Tallahassee, but came up short in the end, dropping an 81-76 decision to the host Eagles to fall to 5-3 on the year.

Bucs Defense Clamps Down Ranger In Home Win

The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers turned in a sterling defensive effort Thursday night in Suncoast Credit Union Arena, holding the visiting Ranger Rangers to just 32% shooting and 61 points in an 83-61 blowout win to improve to 3-0 on the year.

Bucs Fly Past the Century Mark in Blowout of Spartans

Coming off the high of a big win over the Ranger Rangers Thursday night in Suncoast Credit Union Arena, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were in no mood for a let up Friday as they took on the Florida Coastal Spartans, blowing past the prepsters 110-63 to improve to 4-0 on the season.

Bucs Crash the Glass For Win In 2024 Opener

The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers used a dominating effort on the glass to come away with a 68-57 win over Lurleen B. Wallace in their 2024-2025 season opener on the road in Georgia on Thursday.  The win, the first of the Darrin Wallace Era for the Bucs, was secured thanks to a +25 mark in the rebounding category and a balanced scoring attack that included four players in double figures for FSW.
