Bucs Speedster Signs With Panthers
After starting 104 games for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers the past two seasons, sophomore infielder D’Yani McKinley has found her home at the next level as the Bucs speedster has signed her National Letter of Intent to play at Prairie View A&M University for the 2024-2025 season.
FORT MYERS, Fla.- After starting 104 games for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers the past two seasons, sophomore infielder D'Yani McKinley has found her home at the next level as the Bucs speedster has signed her National Letter of Intent to play at Prairie View A&M University for the 2024-2025 season.
McKinley was a two-time 1st Team All-Conference selection for the Bucs, earning All-Southern Conference honors as a freshman in 2023 and All-Citrus Conference accolades as a sophomore in 2024. She was a .392 career hitter for FSW, scoring 93 runs and stealing 57 bases at the top of the Buccaneer order. As a freshman she hit .402 overall and .500 in conference action to help lead FSW to a Southern Conference Championship. She remained red hot into the postseason where she hit .421 with eight hits in five NJCAA World Series games for the Bucs, helping lead FSW to their third consecutive NJCAA National Championship. As a sophomore this season, she beefed up her production even more, accounting for 78 runs in 62 games with 21 driven in and 56 scored while hitting .386 and stealing 38 bases for the Bucs.
McKinley will join a Panther squad coming off of a dominating performance last season in the SWAC Western Division standings where they went 23-1 to run away with the league title while going 29-19 overall.
McKinley is one of seven Bucs headed to the Division I level and eight Bucs overall inked to head to the next level in 2024-2025, joining teammates Sydney McCray (Grand Canyon), Esmee Ames (Troy), Sietske Drijvers (Mercer), Lea Chevrier (Miami-OH), Paige Lassiter (UTEP), Jenna Teakert (Eastern Illinois), and Ella Moore (Georgian Court).
