High School: Makinen is the first player from a Nordic country to suit up for the Bucs, coming to Fort Myers from Salo, Finland where she prepped at Salon Lukio, leading her team to a Finnish Championship in A-Juniors in 2024.
Personal: Born February 16, 2005, she is the daughter of Paula Kullanmaki and Jyrki Makinen. She has an older sister, Katariina (23) and twin brothers, Lassi and Leevi (10).

The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers made NJCAA history Saturday night in Clarksville, Tennessee, defeating their arch rivals, the Miami Dade Sharks to win their third consecutive NJCAA National Championship, the first team to do that in the Division I era.
Going into Thursday's NJCAA National Tournament Quarterfinal matchup with the #8 Utah State Eastern Golden Eagles, the #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers had only gone more than three sets three times during the entirety of the 2024 season.
