The Florida SouthWestern State Volleyball team was not only successful on the court this season, winning the 2022 NJCAA National Championship, but they weren’t too shabby in the classroom either as the Bucs put together a 3.48 Team GPA to earn their fourth consecutive USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award.
After winning an NJCAA National Championship on the court this Fall, Florida SouthWestern Volleyball players Barbara Koehler and Julia Lawrenz earned the ultimate off the court honor on Monday as the pair was named 2023 CSC Academic All-Americans, an honor that goes to just 11 two-year student-athletes across all sports nationwide. Furthermore, the duo was the only pair of teammates of any program in the country to receive the honors.
For the first time in program history the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) put together an Academic All-District Team for the At-Large College Division, and in it’s first year, 10 different Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneer student-athletes earned their way onto the list. The 10 Bucs female student-athletes to earn the honors marked the most of any school in the two-year ranks.

Florida SouthWestern Head Coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen earned the highest honor of any coach at the two-year level on Wednesday as the Bucs fourth year Head Coach was named the AVCA Two-Year National Coach of the Year. Baziquetto-Allen was chosen from finalists for the award from all three two-year factions (NJCAA, CCCAA, NWAC), including all three levels of the NJCAA.

FSW's Barbara Koehler was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament while Bucs Head Coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen was named the Heidi Cartisser Coach of the Tournament.
