Freshman (2024): Velazquez found his way into 22 games for the Bucs last season as a freshman, the 4th most appearances in a season in program history. He finished 3-3 with a pair of saves, logging 38 innings on the mound and striking out 45. Velazquez earned his first career victory with three scoreless innings of two hit baseball against New College of Florida in mid-February. He also proved to be the Bucs emergency outfielder, getting into a pair of games in the grass and even driving in a run in his first career at bat against St. Petersburg. 

Redshirt (2023): Velazquez redshirted in 2023 at Florida Gulf Coast University. 

High School: Velazquez prepped around the corner from FSW at Bishop Verot High School where he earned three letters for the Vikings. As a senior he posted a 1.80 ERA, throwing 44 2/3 innings and striking out 62 opposing hitters. 

Personal: Born November 5, 2003, he is the son of Carelyn and Reinaldo Velazquez.  He has an older brother, Rey (29).

Bucs Win Series With Saturday Split Against Sharks

For the second straight weekend, the #10 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers had a chance to finish off a sweep, but were forced to settle for a series win on Saturday, taking game one over Miami Dade 7-3 behind seven unanswered runs before dropping the series finale 3-1 to close the weekend winning two out of three against the Sharks and in turn, clinching home field advantage for the regional round of the FCSAA State Tournament May 2-4.

Bucs Batter Daytona in Series Opener

Coming off of a disappointing series loss against Eastern Florida a week ago, the #13 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers came out swinging on Thursday in their series opener against Daytona State, getting a three run home run from Jake Mueller in the 1st to take an early lead and they never looked back, ultimately hammering the Falcons 10-2 in an eight inning run rule to take the lead in the three game set between the two.

A pair of three run innings in the middle of the game and six shutout innings from the FSW bullpen led the Bucs to an 8-1 victory for their 10th consecutive win to improve to 10-1 on the year.

Deja Vu! Hamilton Walks It Off Again For Bucs to Complete Sweep

Once again it took some late game dramatics for the #4 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers to come away with a victory on Sunday as FSW erased a three run 8th inning deficit and got a walk off single from Ty Hamilton for the second straight day to stun Chattahoochee Valley 7-6 and complete the weekend sweep of the Pirates.
