36 Bucs, 4 Teams Honored By NJCAA For Academic Achievements

It was a record breaking year in competition for the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers and a pretty good one in the classroom as well as 36 student-athletes and 4 Buccaneer teams were honored by the NJCAA during their annual Academic Awards release.

Florida SouthWestern guard Asiana Britt is going from one slice of paradise to another next season as the 5’7 sophomore will pack her bags from Fort Myers for the opposite side of the Gulf as she heads to Texas A&M Corpus Christi where she will play for the Islanders in 2025-2026.

Following a sophomore season in which she helped the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers to a Conference Championship and a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament, Roksana Sajdak will be headed to the bayou next season to play for Red River Athletic Conference Champions LSU- Shreveport.

Florida SouthWestern’s Sarah Owona was awarded the Sandy Miller Award on Friday, denoting her as the top FCSAA Women’s Basketball student-athlete for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Following an All-Conference sophomore campaign, Florida SouthWestern forward Ivy Brown is headed to the Lone Star State after signing with the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley for next season.

14 Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers put together years to epitomize the moniker ‘student-athlete’ this season, combining their performances in the classroom and on the court and fields in Fort Myers to earn 2025 CSC Academic All-District honors.

Florida SouthWestern superstar freshman Samantha Serrano is heading to the Division I level after one year with the Bucs after signing at the University of Illinois-Chicago where she will suit up for the Flames next season.

After logging nearly 2,000 minutes in a Buccaneers uniform the past two seasons, Florida SouthWestern sophomore Sarah Owona is headed to the Division I level where she will join the UT-Chattanooga Mocs next season.

After wrapping up a three year career with the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, Georgi Buzzetti will be moving on to the Division I level, but won't be going too far as she will remain in the Sunshine State, signing to play next season at the University of North Florida.

Following a standout season for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, freshman guard Samantha Serrano has been named a Third Team NJCAA All-American as announced by the National office on Wednesday.

Bucs Season Comes To A Close In Sweet 16

The #12 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers saw their 2024-2025 season come to a close Friday afternoon in the NJCAA National Tournament Sweet 16, battling to the end, but coming up just short against #3 New Mexico 62-56 to finish their campaign 25-6.

Defense Propels Bucs to Opening Round Win at National Tournament

The #12 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers held the Itawamba Lady Indians to just 36 points in a 61-36 win at the NJCAA National Tournament in Casper, Wyoming Wednesday afternoon.  It is the Bucs first win at the National Tournament since the 2019 season and pushes FSW on to the Sweet 16 where they will take on #3 New Mexico Friday.

While the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were in the midst of their postseason run last week in Niceville, one of their own was being honored, as two-time All-American Tina Stephens was elected to the FCSAA Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, making her the first Buccaneer Basketball player in program history to do so.

For the first time since 2020, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers are headed back to the NJCAA National Tournament after the Bucs earned one of eight at-large bids announced by the NJCAA on Sunday.

Cold Shooting Dooms Bucs in FCSAA Semis

The #12 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers picked a bad time for their second worst shooting game of the season Friday afternoon in Niceville, hitting on just 32% from the field in a 66-54 loss to #4 Chipola to bring their run at the FCSAA Championships to an end in the round of four.  FSW will now have to play the waiting game to see if they have earned an at large bid for the NJCAA National Tournament which will be announced on Sunday.

Bucs Earn Opening Round Win at FCSAA Tournament

The #12 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers opened their 2025 postseason run with a victory Wednesday afternoon in Niceville, dominating from wire to wire in a 64-42 win over the Pensacola State Pirates in the first round of the FCSAA Tournament.
